Learn More →Applications by Industry
Industrial grinding and mixing equipment produced by IDA is used in a broad section of the manufacturing economy.
Wet grinding machines, dispersers, and industrial mixers find applications wherever solid particles must be reduced to smaller sizes, merged uniformly into a liquid medium, or dispersed evenly in a viscous batch. Most equipment used in these processes show significant variation by industry – a paint grinding machine (for example) optimized for titanium dioxide pigment looks dissimilar to a bead mill configured for lithium iron phosphate battery slurry.
Paint & Coatings
Paint manufacturing equipment including bead mills for paint, high speed dispersers, and mixers for architectural, automotive, and industrial coatings.
Ink & Pigment
Ink grinding machines for offset, flexo, digital, and packaging inks. Pigment grinding machines for organic and inorganic color concentrates and masterbatches.
Battery & Energy
Processing electrodes for lithium-ion batteries. Handling cathode and anode material preparation in a variety of size fractions with bead mills and planetary mixers.
Adhesives & Sealants
High viscosity mixing and filler dispersion for high-pressure structural adhesives (including two-component systems), silicone and epoxy adhesives. Planetary and dual shaft mixers available.
Cosmetics & Personal Care
Emulsion process and pigment dispersion for color cosmetic, homogenizer process for cream, lotion and sunscreen.
Agrochemicals
Wet grinding of herbicide, pesticide, and fungicide suspension concentrates. Bead mills provide the necessary very fine particle sizes for stable formulations.
Nano Materials
Sub-100 nanometers grinding of advanced ceramics, electronic material. And research applications at this level a turbo nano bead mills with micro-bead requirement.
Pharmaceuticals
Drug nanoparticle preparation, API milling and excipient processing in a controlled environment. Use of pharmaceutical quality equipment with order design and documentation.
An observation shared by many:
It is not uncommon to find customers who come in initially asking for a piece of equipment tailored to just one product find that it can run several formulations in their range. Disc type bead mill, initially purchased for the grinding of paint pigment, for example, is used to grind ceramic slurry, resin dispersion and powder coating premix all on the same line, with just a change of line ratio. The ability to change is key.
Laboratory Testing Center — Sample Processing & Validation
The single most frequently-mistaken and costly purchase in the grinding equipment industry is buying based on spec catalog numbers alone. Materials with widely ranging properties – hardness, abrasiveness, particle shape, particles/mL in a formulation, viscosity, solid loading – all have a huge impact on the final system design and operation. A quick test at your lab using the actual materials will save money and aggravation later.

IDA’s consistent laboratory test reports often includes particle size analyzers (ID chip, laser diffraction), photographs of the sample at various process stages, a recommended size of model, media specification, operating parameters, and suggested media loading. Companies in USA, South Korea, India, Hong Kong, Taiwan, China, and Australia – we send materials anywhere in the world!
More practical results: laboratory testing uncovers details beyond system specifications. Out of dozens of early samples, we have had samples that did not work out right due to imprecise specifications – extreme cost in high-precision abrasiveness or 15% peak viscosity. Found this in a small batch in the lab than finding it months later after the tube is worn out.
Why Choose IDA
A manufacturer of wet milling, dispersing and blending equipment – not a middleman or trader. German designed equipment optimised for Chinese factories.
In-House R&D & Manufacturing
We construct the grinding chambers, rotors, separation systems and PLC controls in our factory. Several utility model patents. Our engineers produce your process—ink, paint, battery, adhesive, agrochemical—daily on our own laboratory equipment.
Lab-to-Production Scale-Up
Same rotor geometries and chamber proportions from lab bench to production floor. Laboratory test results on our test mill transfer directly to production scale equipment, requiring no trial-and-error re-optimization.

Our grinding machines include horizontal sand mills (turbo nano, disc, pin-type, and laboratory models), three roll mills (laboratory, production, and hydraulic powered), and basket mills. Our mixing equipment include high speed dispersers, double planetary mixers, triple shaft mixers, double shaft mixers, butterfly disperser mixers, and IBC tank mixers. We also produce chemical reactors, hydraulic discharge machines, and filling machines. We also design a turnkey production lines for paint, ink, adhesive, battery, and pesticide production.
Yes. IDA designs and builds composite fully automated production lines. They cover paint production lines, ink production lines of 500-100,000 tons per year, adhesive and sealant production lines with hydraulic discharge and planetary mixing, battery electrode slurry production lines for NMC, LFP and sodium-ion systems, and pesticide suspension concentrate (SC) lines with D90 below 5 microns and PLC automation. All combine feeding, mixing, grinding, filtering and filling as one process.
Sand mills (horizontal bead mills) are ideal for continuous, wet grinding of low-to-mid viscosity fluids where you need below 25-micron fineness—specifically in paint, ink, and nano applications. Three roll mills work better at high-viscosity pastes of over 100,000 cP, for small production batch sizes, and where zero-media contamination is needed—such as electronic pastes, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals. This equipment can often be used together, using the sand mill for high-volume throughput and the three roll mill for fine paste-like production.
Yes. Send samples to our Jiangyin location and we will test multiple configurations of our equipment, analyze the particle size distribution by laser diffraction, and produce a research report including our recommended equipment specifications and operating conditions. Our on-site laboratory contains sand mills, three roll mills, dispersers, and high viscosity emulsification vessels. Samples processed on our equipment can then be shipped back for evaluation.
Our equipment has been employed in several applications including paints and coatings, printing inks, pigment manufacturing, lithium ion cell electrode coatings, adhesives and sealant, cosmetic, agrochemical, pharmaceutical, nano-material, electronic components, ceramic, and mineral processing. We also have our equipment working in of the fields of photovoltaic paste manufacturing and electrically conductive printing inks. Any application requiring solid particle reduction, high viscosity mixing, or solid-liquid dispersion can use IDA equipment.
Yes, IDA operates in markets including the USA, Korea, South Africa, Vietnam, Malaysia, India, Sri Lanka, Russia, New Zealand, Australia, Japan, Thailand, the Netherlands, and Bangladesh. We provide on-line installation, machine operation, spare part supply, and remote troubleshooting on all systems and lines shipped. Our ongoing research work with some of the world’s top universities including Wuhan University of Science and Technology and Nanjing University of Science and Technology keeps us at the top of the game.
All IDA equipment is made at approved facilities, and all systems are CE marked. Three roll mills are approved to ANSI and IEC 60204-1 standards. Food and pharmaceutical grade and explosion-proof (ATEX, IECEx) versions of many models are available. Send us your requirements and we will produce the appropriate certification.
